Library Management

Overview

Manage book catalog, issue/return, fines, QR-based issue, and reservations when the reservation module is enabled.

Who can use it

Role Access
Librarian Full catalog and circulation
Student / Staff Self-service reservation (if enabled)
Admin Configuration, reports

Before you start

  • [ ] Book master imported or entered
  • [ ] Library members linked (students/staff)
  • [ ] Issue rules (max books, days, fine rate) configured

Add books to catalog

  1. Open Library Management → Book Master.
  2. Enter title, author, ISBN, category, copies.
  3. Save. Generate QR codes if your school uses QR issue.

Issue a book

  1. Open Book Issue (manual entry or scan QR / member card).
  2. Select Member (student or staff).
  3. Scan or enter book accession/code.
  4. Confirm issue date and due date.
  5. Save.

Return a book

  1. Open Book Return.
  2. Scan book or search by member.
  3. System calculates fine if overdue.
  4. Collect fine if applicable and close transaction.

Reservations (optional)

When reservations are enabled:

User Action
Student My Reservations — place hold on unavailable book
Librarian /Student Reservation Queue** — fulfill when copy returns
Librarian Place Reservation on behalf of member

Members receive notification when a reserved book becomes available (if messaging configured).

Reports

  • Books issued today / overdue list
  • Member-wise history
  • Reservation queue position
  • Lost/damaged inventory

Tips

  • Run overdue reminders weekly via communication module.
  • Use Library Dashboard for at-a-glance circulation stats.
