Navigation and Menus

Overview

SUMS ERP menus are role-based and configured per school. What you see depends on your assigned role—not every user sees every module.

The top navigation bar uses a mega-menu with groups such as:

Top-level group Typical contents
Masters Class, section, subject, employee, and other setup screens
Dashboard School dashboard and summary widgets
Academic Master Syllabus, timetable, lecture plan
Daily Activities Attendance, homework, lecture taken
Medical History Student medical records
Library Management Books, issue/return, reservations
Report Academic, financial, and operational reports
Preferences School settings, profile, templates

Sub-items under each group are loaded from the database for your role. If a colleague sees a menu item you do not, ask your administrator to update Role Module permissions.

Most screens show breadcrumbs below the header, for example:

Dashboard → Fees → Fee Collection

Use breadcrumbs to move back one level without using the browser Back button.

Header shortcuts

Icon / link Purpose
Task Pending tasks assigned to you
Notification System and school notifications
Manage Auth Two-factor authentication settings

Logout Ends your session

Academic year context

Many screens require an Academic Year selection at the top or in filters. Data is scoped to the selected year. Always verify the correct year before entering or reporting data.

Modern Modules hub

Some schools enable a Modern Modules area (visitor management, hostel, kitchen, salary, LMS, admission CRM). If your menu includes Modern Modules or links from Module Home, use that hub for newer features.

Attendance Dashboard (separate app)

The Attendance Dashboard is a sibling application with its own sidebar navigation (staff absent/late, student search, homework, communication reports). A link back to SUMS ERP returns you to the main school portal.

Mobile / New Version

Some deployments expose NewVersion or a mobile-style dashboard link in the menu. This opens a lightweight HTML dashboard for attendance and communication on phones.

Tips

  • Use browser bookmarks for screens you open daily (e.g. fee collection).
  • If a screen returns “access denied,” your role lacks View or Add rights for that module.
  • Menu labels match Module Name in admin configuration—wording may differ slightly between schools.
